Pre-Trade

Bank And Wallet Set Up

You have the ability to manage your bank and wallet details in the Settlement section of Prime. Banks and/or wallet addresses you provided during Prime’s onboarding process are automatically added to your Profile. Genesis settlement details will be displayed on the Settlement dialog from the Trading Dashboard after you place a trade and are ready to settle.

Transaction Requirements

Before trading, it is important to note minimum transaction sizes.

  • For OTC trades executed off-platform and booked into the Prime platform by the Genesis team, the minimum trade size for all digital currencies is $250,000.
  • For Live Stream trades, during onboarding, you will be notified of your maximum day notional and maximum order notional.

Trading

Once you are ready to transact, log in to the Genesis Prime platform and go to the Trading Dashboard.

Live Stream allows you to view prices and execute trades on live pricing streamed from Genesis. To execute a Live Stream trade, first specify your desired QUANTITY or click the QTY/$ toggle to enter a NOTIONAL VALUE. Then, click the OFFER button to buy or the BID button to sell. A confirmation message will display to CONFIRM or CANCEL your trade. After confirming, the trade will appear in Trade History.

Please note that once a Live Stream trade is confirmed, you are no longer subject to price risk, and your only remaining step is to settle the trade.

Transaction Requirements

The Trade History section displays all your trading activity for your account with Genesis.

Trade History includes:

  • Live Stream trades
  • OTC trades executed off-platform and booked into the Prime platform by the Genesis team
  • API trading fills if you are integrated with the Genesis Trading API

Both filled trades and rejected orders are shown. Canceled orders are displayed as rejected.

To export a CSV of your trading activity, click the download icon on the top right of the Trade History section. The download menu will allow you to export the current page of trades or all trades within a custom date range.

Trade settlement with Genesis occurs on a post-trade basis. After a Live Stream trade is confirmed, you and Genesis will exchange USD and digital assets to complete trade settlement. If you have multiple unsettled trades with Genesis, the unsettled trades will be batched together into a single settlement.

To the right of the Trade History table, the Balance section summarizes your unsettled trading activity by asset and shows the time of your last settlement with Genesis. Clicking on the SETTLEMENT button will open the Settlement dialog. The Settlement dialog shows the summary of unsettled trades and in progress settlements.

If no settlements are in progress, you can initiate a settlement in the Unsettled section. Start a settlement by specifying the destination bank and wallet(s) information for each asset you will be receiving from Genesis. If any settlement instructions are missing, the system will prompt you to ADD ADDRESS for each unsettled asset. As mentioned above, bank and wallet information for settlement can also be managed in the Settlement section of Prime. Once you have selected all your settlement information, click SETTLE NOW, which will notify the Genesis team that settlement has been initiated. Under the Pay to Genesis section, all the Genesis bank information and/or wallet addresses needed for this settlement will be displayed to you to use to send the assets due to Genesis.

If a settlement is currently in progress, you will find the details listed under the In Progress section. If Genesis is managing multiple in progress settlements on your behalf, you can select from the Settlement dropdown on the right in order to view each one.

Settlements that have been completed with Genesis are moved from the In Progress section to the Past Settlements below Trade History.

Wallet Specifics

If you are buying digital currencies from Genesis, you must have a wallet address added to the platform for the digital currency that you are purchasing. Genesis is unable to assist you in choosing a wallet provider or provide instructions on how to operate your specific wallet. Genesis expects its counterparties to be comfortable sending and receiving digital currency to digital wallets. Please do the necessary research prior to transacting to ensure that settlement can be as smooth as possible for both sides. It is important to note that you will need a specific wallet address for each digital currency you will be purchasing. For example, if you have an existing BTC wallet already set up and you are looking to buy BCH, you will need to set up a separate BCH wallet address to complete the transaction.

Bank Wire Specifics

When you send money to Genesis to settle a transaction, it is important to note that this must be completed via BANK WIRE and NOT ACH transfer. Genesis expects all counterparties to send wires for settlement on the same day the trade was agreed to. If you think you’ll have trouble settling on the same day, please reach out to the Genesis operations team prior to transacting. If Genesis receives your bank wire before 5:30 pm (ET), you’ll receive the digital currency the same day. If the wire is received post 5:30 pm (ET), you’ll likely receive the digital currency the following day.
